On Dec. 2nd, Iration digitally released a 10-track acoustic record titled Double Up that features stripped down, acoustic renditions of past fan favorites. In addition to this release, the group has also announced their plans for a winter tour with Jamaica’s roots revival artist, Protoje and Georgia-based multi-instrumentalist, Zach Deputy.
In a press release discussing the record, Iration details that: “We took songs from our whole catalog of music and stripped them back and gave them an alternate life. We thought about a wave doubling up and the fact that it’s another version of the same entity. That’s what Double Up is, another version of these songs.”
The songs were re-worked at 17th Street Recording Studio in Costa Mesa, CA as it is the latest installment to a discography that includes 4 studio albums and 3 EP’s since the groups 2003 inception. The last record released by Iration came with the Aug 28, 2015 release of Hotting Up.
On January 13th, the group will embark on a four-week headlining west-coast winter run of dates titled the Lost & Found Winter Tour. The tour will wrap up on February 10th in Las Vegas, NV before coming back to Long Beach, CA on February 11th for the 2nd Annual Cali One Love Reggae Festival.
Joining Iration will be Protoje and Zach Deputy — Fans should be excited for an authentic tour line-up, having the chance to see Iration share the stage alongside fresh faces that the group has yet to tour with.
You have the influential Hawaiian and Jamaican sounds of Iration and Protoje, accented by the southern influence of Zach Deputy’s funk paired with his spirited rhythms of soca and calypso. One thing we hope to see from a tour like this, is some future collaborations both on stage and in the studio.
