I feel that most discussions take place over on the facebook pages of the bands, as lame as that might be.

i rarely check this forum anymore, i had over 800 posts in the old forum. not a fan of this new layout and it seems im not the only one because the discussions are few and far between. i agree to that most of the talking is happening on facebook and twitter these days. the movement article was great, super informative as is most everything posted on the pier. This site is as amazing as it was when I discovered it years ago ( miss Pilipo though) but the forum is no where near as good as it used to be.

The Forum is actually identical to what it was when Pilipo was around. When we first switched the site over to the current format your viewing from now, we had a different forum that was attached to the new template we were using but we werent a fan of it after we ran with it for a few months, so we brought the exact old forum format as when Pilipo was here, back.
What we miss about Pilipo, aside from his passion & interaction, is he was always on the forum and chatting it up, responding actively. Back then Myspace was the dominant social network and since FB & Twitter have taken off, fans have taken more to FB & Twitter because the response is instant with likes & comments, where in a forum it could be a couple days before someone jumps on and responds.
Times have just changed since 4-5 years ago and we've noticed this on all forums for the most part. But we keep the forum active & its the same exact forum as before.
As long as folks continue to share awesome footage, like that of Jakob Nowell covering his Dad's "Burritos", as well as other misc posts, we'll keep the forum active. But just because the traffic in the forum has subsided doesnt mean the traffic to the site has. Its actually increased as we continue to dish out articles like the one on The Movement or our new Behind The Beat & Backstage Story Pieces.
I'm come from the old forum days when I use to follow Sublimearchive, Stoopid & Pepper forums. I'm a big fan of the forums and i was a part of a lot of those awesome discussions that carried 9-10 pages worth of responses from 10-20 different users.
We're evolving with the times. 4-5 years ago there wasnt this many groups in the scene, Myspace was the dominant social network & we didnt have a 20+ person staff in 10 different states. It was just 3 of us. Pilipo, Myself & Dave. Things are growing & times are changing. Lets adapt together and continue to spread the awareness on this positive music!
Cheers
