A couple weeks ago, it was announced that East London’s Reggae-Rock quartet, The Skints, had signed with Easy Star Records, joining an impressive roster of groups to release their third studio album. Now, we have the details around their forthcoming new release, complete with Cover Art, Album Title & a video teaser featuring Tippa Irie…

Titled as a tribute to the radio culture that The Skints love as music fans, they have named their new album FM that will be released on March 10th via Easy Star Records. FM follows the 2014 Short Change EP that The Skints dropped via their own Penny Drop Recordings. Their first album, Live,Breathe,Build,Believe was released back in 2010, followed by their sophomore release, Part and Parcel in 2013 & was produced by close friend and renowned producer Prince Fatty. Prince Fatty returns with production alongside some guest appearances that include reggae legends Tippa Irie and Horseman, alongside grime MC Rival.
The Skints join an impressive roster of groups in Easy Star that include: Rebelution, Passafire, Easy Star All-Stars, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Cas Haley, John Brown’s Body, The Green, New Kingston & The Expanders. Pre-sale for the musical ode to London will begin on February 2nd for the March 9th release. No track-listing has been revealed yet, but you can view the album teaser below, which features Tippa Irie.
If you’re not familiar with The Skints, their press release summed it up the best by describing the East London-based group, as mixing “Jamaican styles with pop hooks, grimey raps, filthy basslines and a punk-rock work ethic”. The group includes members Jon Doyle on Bass, Jamie Kyriakides on Drums/Vocals, Josh Waters Rudge on Guitar/Vocals and Marcia Richards who rocks the Keys/Sax/Flute/Melodica & Vocals.
The Skints will be touring through London in April as you can see from the tour dates below. They’ll make their USA debut in May when they play the California Roots Festival. Stay tuned for more details including The Pier’s official Review & Star rating for FM.
