The Pier’s Weekend Show Locator!

The last day of summer was Tuesday but things are still heating up in the reggae community. Check out this edition of The Pier’s Weekend Show Locator for the best shows happening over the next three days including AER on the One Of A Kind Tour, New Kingston starting The Protect Me Tour, Katchafire on their Summer High World Tour, and Morgan Heritage with Tarrus Riley and the Marley crew on the Catch A Fire Tour.

The reggae masses will be converging on Central California this weekend just outside Sacramento for two jam-packed days of music and drinking at the historic 70 year-old El Dorado County Fairgrounds. Dry Diggings Beer, Camping and Music Festival takes place this Friday and Saturday outside Sacramento in rural Placerville, a working town originally established around local gold mines and providing the festival’s namesake. Dry Diggings is billed as a beer, camping and music festival, providing an adult playground with plenty of fun for the next two days.

The tagline for Dry Diggings starts with beer for a reason…four major breweries will be serving pints and free tasters of craft beer throughout the festival grounds. Take your choice of pale ales, IPAs, reds, and many more from Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, and Altamont Beer Works. Attendees will also be treated to some insider tips and expertise from the pros with education sessions at the Brewery Knowledge Zone. And for those who prefer the hard stuff, check out the daily Happy Hour and Mimosas Mornings.

The California Roots crew was excited to add onsite camping to Dry Diggings, something new for their festival organization experience:

“The idea of going to a new market to do a new show that included camping was the driving force for us, as we don’t have camping on site at Monterey. Doing a camping festival for both Jeff (Monser founder of Cali-Roots Festival) and I was something that was desirable and to include all the bands that we love and include beer, it was a win-win. The foothills are a special place and Placerville is a really cool town with a strong history. The name of the event is a play on the gold rush history of the town,”
– Dan Sheehan – California Roots Presents Co-Producer

Onsite walk-in camping comes included with all Full Festival Experience and Full Festival VIP tickets with car and RV parking upgrades available. The VIP ticket for Dry Diggings provides a number of upgrades like access to VIP lounges, private restrooms (always a huge plus at festivals!), shaded side stage viewing area, special food and drink vendors and pricing, and exclusive access to band meet and greets. After all the music and the daily happy hour, campers can do the usual eating, drinking, and playing music and tailgate games. But those who think have some real skills will step it up this weekend. When you festival-goers need a breather, take a little break from the music to watch the Dry Diggings Cornhole Tournament or the ‘Panning For Gold’ Beer Pong Tournament.

Last but definitely not least, the California Roots crew did not disappoint with the music lineup. Dry Diggings attendees will be treated to Friday night opening headliners Tribal Seeds and Collie Buddz followed by another big night headlined by Dirty Heads and Nahko & Medicine for the People. But of course it doesn’t stop there! Friday will see the two stages filled with Stick Figure, Josh Heinrichs, Mike, Mystic Roots, and Thrive. Then Don Carlos, J BOOG, Through The Roots, Seedless, Inna Vision, HIRIE, Leilani Wolfgramm, and Arise Roots will play throughout the day on Saturday.

Remember to come by here every single Thursday to see what shows are going on for the entire weekend. You may also view our built-in Show Locator, where you can search by artist & view all of their upcoming shows, with options to purchase tickets for select shows!
