The Pier’s Christmas Weekend Show Locator!

Merry Christmas from the entire Pier Family! We hope you having fun with family and friends for the holiday. As like most of most, most of our favorite bands are doing the same thing and taking a break for the long holiday weekend. But this edition of The Pier’s Weekend Show Locator still found some shows worth mentioning!

Whether you’re stuck out of town away from family or just need a little break away from the house, there are a few reggae shows out there to save you this weekend. Despite a deep web search, there was just one show found for Friday night after your Christmas dinner. New Yorkers will be treated to An Intimate Evening with Matisyahu and Friends in the SOHO district. Matisyahu and friends will be performing at City Winery where concert-goers can grab a bite to eat and a bottle of wine before the show. But things start to pick for the rest of the weekend, at least a little.

New York will get an extra present from Santa this year, this time in Jamaica. DJ Sting International and various other Caribbean DJs will be spinning in Queens at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center for the Sting International 30th Anniversary Party. This should be a fun one…DJ Sting International is well-known for his production work with Shaggy and many #1 hits including Boombastic, It Wasn’t Me, and Angel. The coasts will be covered Saturday as well though. The Supervillains will be playing at Beachside Tavern in New Smyrna Beach, FL while the B-Side Players will performing on the Left Coast. The After Xmas Celebration at Winstons will feature the B-Side Players with Israel Maldonado in the eclectic neighborhood of Ocean Beach in San Diego.

Saturday closes up with Nahko and Medicine for the People with Dustin Thomas at the Crystal Bay Crown Room in Lake Tahoe, NV (don’t forget to show up early with some extra money to hit the casino before and after the show!). Afterwards, Nahko will take Dustin and his people to warmer surroundings, sort of. The fellas will head westaward to NorCal for show on the famous Highway 101, the Pacific Coast Highway. Check this show out at Mcnear’s Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, where you can also grab a fresh beer from the Lagunita’s Brewery.

Lastly, Sunday will be closed out in silence with the Quiet Party in Newark, NJ. Attendees will spread throughout Prince Hall with headphones supplied by the venue instead of the typical loudspeakers. Listeners will choose between three distinct live radio stations featuring the best dancehall reggae mixes by three different DJs.

Hope you have a great holiday weekend; have fun and be safe!!
