The Movement Reveal New Single “Siren” feat. Stick Figure

Island beach-reggae standouts The Movement has been hard at work putting together their follow-up effort from 2016’s Golden –- a record that very much lived up to the hype! The South Carolina based quartet have recently announced that their new single “Siren” featuring Stick Figure will be released to the masses on June 30 via Rootfire Cooperative.

Golden reached #1 on the Billboard and iTunes Reggae Charts upon its release, and their hit track “Habit 2016” featuring Collie Buddz TheMovement_Sirensand Bobby Hustle held down the #1 spot on the Soundcloud New/Hot reggae charts as several other tracks from that album were found in the Top 50 as well. The Movement are 14 years into their storied musical career and show no signs of looking back after crafting six studio albums. They can currently be found on the epic Sounds of Summer Tour with Slightly Stoopid, Iration and J Boog.

The Movement are no strangers to collaborations and guest features, as Golden included additional contributions from the likes of Leilani Wolfgram, Elliot Martin of John Brown’s Body and more. It had been reported that the collaboration with Stick Figure came together from Scott Woodruff reaching out to the band stating “Dancehall” featuring Mr. Williamz was his favorite track from Golden, and that he would often fire up the song to “clear his head” before going on stage.

“Siren” is expected to depict the ever-growing misinterpretation of facts from the media across news outlets. Vocalist and guitarist Joshua Swain offered up some insight on the background for the single, stating: “Flip on the TV or scroll through Facebook and get ready to be bombarded with negativity and lies. Sometimes it seems like the more connected we become, the more disconnected we truly feel in our hearts. With the inconceivable rise of Trump, and the incessant spreading of blatant untruths through the media, it’s easy to lose hope and feel alone.”

The four minute song is what you’d expect from The Movement collaborating with Stick Figure — Heavy reggae rhythm with deep bass, synths and keys hopping over the track with a cool verse by Scott Woodruff at the 2:40 mark for a 20second guest spot that pairs wonderfully with Swain’s signature presence. Stay tuned for the tracks premiere June 30th, 2017 at Rootfire!

In addition to the Sounds of Summer Tour with Slightly Stoopid, Iration and J Boog, The Movement can be found playing at several notable festivals over the next couple of months, including Electric Forest, Surrounded By The Sound Music & Arts Festival and Windstream Party in the Park.
