    Kimié Miner – Kimié Miner
    Release Date: October 9th

The theme of Hawaii’s Kimié Miner’s new album is “land” as Kimié explains, “It’s about our connection to the land and the seasons we experience both in our surroundings and within ourselves.” A majority of the 11 track album was produced with Billy Van, with whom she met while on tour with The Green. The two wrote and recorded “Trouble,” “Throwback Love,” and “Make It To Morning” while in Indianapolis in just shy of one week. The musical connection between the two caused Kimié to bring Van to Hawai’i to complete the rest of the record. “Love is the Melody” was co-written with Caleb Keolanui of The Green while he was on tour and Kimié was thousands of miles away in Hawai’i. Using their separate love interests as motivation, the song’s collaboration tells the story of how music can encourage intimacy in the face of long distances.

Bumpin Uglies – Sublime with No One
    Release Date: October 9th
BumpinUglies If you’re not familiar with Bumpin’ Uglies, they’re a 3-piece white-boy reggae group from Maryland and with their latest EP, Sublime with No One, they’re likely garnering more attention for the EP title than they are the new songs on the EP. The 5 track EP dropped on October 16th via their own Bandcamp page. The title, Sublime with No One, is what mainly sticks out on a cover that strongly resembles Bad Religion‘s cover-art for the iconic release of No Control.

At first, this EP looks like a statement release towards the reformation of Sublime by parodying Sublime with Rome. When I asked lead-singer Brandon Hardesty what the correlation was, he replied: “The title was just something we thought was funny. We’re always hearing from people that we sound like Sublime so we just thought we’d embrace it.”

G Love & Special Sauce – Love Saves The day
    Release Date: October 30th
    G Love

Philadelphia based Hip-Hop/Blues rockers G. Love and Special Sauce released their new album Love Saves The Day on October 30th, 2015 via the bands own Brushfire Records. The 12 track album, according to the group, features the down and dirty “trashcan blues” sound of G. Love and his long-term Special Sauce rhythm section – upright bassist James “Jimi Jazz” Prescott and drummer Jeffrey “The Houseman” Clemens. Engineer and producer Robert Carranza (Jack Johnson, Beastie Boys, Mars Volta) recorded the group live with few edits to capture the raw and unfiltered electricity of the tracks. “The music,” G. Love enthuses, “jumped off the tape.”

The group has returned to their ‘hip-hop blues’ sound first pioneered by the trio in the early 90s
