“Good One” Back-story:
The Green’s third album Hawai‘i ’13 was released August 20 by Easy Star Records. It was recorded in early 2013 at Hurley Studios in Costa Mesa, CA with producer Danny Kalb (Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Beck). Additional musicians on the album include Joe Tomino (Matisyahu, Dub Trio) on drums, and Adam Topol on percussion.
Here’s what The Green’s Zion Thompson had to say with regards to the song “Good One”:
“The theme of this song is pretty straight forward. Party style and good vibes. Little known fact: Caleb wrote this song about two of our best friends back home who this kind of thing would actually happen to often. “Richard Matsumoto” is what we call it, but you can still call it “Good One”!” – Zion Thompson (Guitarist/Vocalist)

The Green Background:
The Green is a six piece roots reggae-R&B-soul band from the islands of Hawai’i. The band quickly found momentum with the release of their first album—2010’s “The Green.” The debut album’s success led to a record deal with Easy Star Records and the band’s sophomore album, “Ways & Means”—which peaked at #1 on iTunes and Billboard Reggae charts in 2011. Along the way The Green has been nominated for several awards, toured extensively, played alongside some of music’s best and forged a steady upward momentum. Hawai’i ’13 is their latest release, and the first to have an outside producer steering the process—namely Danny Kalb.
