Rootdown – “Island Hoppin”
“Island Hoppin” Background & Quote:
ROOTDOWN is releasing 3 new singles this summer. “Island Hopping” is the first of the three. Frontman Paul Wright was in L.A. last weekend with grammy award winning producer Native Wayne in the studio on some upcoming songs. Wayne plays ROOTDOWN’s single “All I Wanna Do” on his weekly radio show “Alter Native” on Indie 103.1 FM in L.A.
The first thing we had to ask Rootdown, was if they meant to send us what is now the cover-art for the new single as we mistook it for a screenshot. When The Pier asked Paul Wright of Rootdown, he said the cover-art was made to look like an Instagram Photo. As for the new song“Island Hopping”, he pulled the curtains back a little bit saying:
‘”I was talking to a girl I was interested in who lived in Atlanta. After visiting her and realizing how different it is there and how that’s influenced her life made me want to take her to where I’m from and the islands I love. She never did get around to packing her bikini and flip-flops tho, so the seat is still available.”
-Paul Wright, Rootdown
