New Kingston – “Life”

“Life” Background:
Best known as the music behind the live performance of Bermuda’s Collie Buddz, New Kingston will be releasing their forthcoming album, Kingston University, on February 5th. “Life” is the first track on an album that contains 14-tracks, featuring guest appearances by J-Boog on the song “Everlasting” and J Classiq on the song “Six 30″.

New Kingston recorded out of Kingston Studios, Anchor Records, Nuttin But Hot Prod and A Team Studios working with producers K-Melz, Dean Fraser and Special Deliver Music out of France.

A direct quote from the band on what to expect with this new release was simply put with them replying:
“It’s a Kingston style with a New York attitude”

New Kingston Background
New Kingston is the essence of a family band. The founder, acting manager and most importantly, the father, Courtney LJ Panton controls the funky bass lines, while his three sons, Tahir a.k.a. SLIM (Keyboards), Stephen a.k.a. SUKI (Guitar), and Courtney on Drums. Also, all three of the brothers share vocal duties on their recordings and at live shows. The Brooklyn, New York band fuses their Reggae sound with modern Pop, Jazz and R&B music, creating their sound, which they term, “Reggae Crossover”.

New Kingston began being utilized by many talented international solo artists while touring the globe such as, Collie Buddz, Mr.Vegas, Morgan Heritage, Gyptian, Shabba Ranks and many more. Now, the band will be performing as the four-piece band of New Kingston without a solo artist at the front of the stage on the upcoming nationwide tour with The Green from Hawai’i, spanning from February 12th to March 10th, 2013.

  1. Dub Diezel says:

I actually think this is a great album opener from the Kingston family. I’m more anxious now to see how the entire record will sound as I think this particular track sounds a little more rootsy too, meaning not so pop-oriented as I felt listening to their last album. In no way shape or form is that a complaint of any sorts, just rather would hear a more underground unified sound, and I felt that on this track.

  2. Eric Murphy says:

One of my top 5 favorite bands. Have seen them in concert 6 times now and they are one of the tightest reggae bands in the world. I’ve already got Life on constant rotation. Love their positive vibes and passion for their fans. Can’t wait for the new Album and hopefully an East Coast tour early this year!
