Mojo Morgan – “New Dawn” (Feat Nina Simone & Peetah Morgan)
“New Dawn” Background:
As the kick-off single to his new album titled New Dawn, the song “New Dawn” is the anthem for the direction Mojo Morgan wishes to take his music. When asked about the background or meaning to his new single, Mojo Morgan simply replied by saying:
“The simple story is this. I’m making music for the people. When you listen to this song, you can hear, feel and even see what the people hear, feel and see.”

As mentioned in our 2012 Most Anticipated Albums article, Mojo Morgan will be releasing a debut solo album, which will now be titled New Dawn. Mojo has been tracking inside such studios as Home Grown, The Kennel, Global Studios (Holland), House of Riddim (Austria), Lions Den & The Funk Factory. Look out for special guests courtesy of Stephen & Damian Marley, Beres Hammond, Lady Saw, Turkessa, Richie Campbell, Peeta Morgan & Nina Simone. There will be 10-13 total songs and as Mojo put it ”The album is guaranteed to stimulate the heart, mind, body and soul.”
Mojo Morgan Bio/Background:
Born in Brooklyn’s tough Bushwick neighborhood, Mojo Morgan was raised in Springfield, MA and spent his summer vacations back in New York’s hippest outer borough, where he returned after high school. Although he grew up in Massachusetts, the family was able to maintain a home in Jamaica and made sure the strong Jamaican culture was present in the home while raising the children in America. As a member of Reggae super group Morgan Heritage, they started recording for the first time professionally in the 80’s.
Surrounded by sessions of intensive vocal and instrumental training, Mojo Morgan was exposed to everything from the godfathers of Roots Reggae to top 40 American Radio: everything from Sade and Bryan Adams to The Cranberries and Hootie and The Blowfish. Those musical influences have formed a new direction for Mojo Morgan’s solo project and a new sound called “Rasta Rock”.
