“War (Rumors of War)” Background:
“War (Rumors of War)” is a lyrically conscious track with a message of hope and change in avoiding the destruction of each other around the element of war. The message of the song is routed in the title “War”, too much war and violence pinning brothers against brothers.
Here’s what Mystic himself had to say about this week’s FREE song, “War (Rumors o War)”:
“The song can be summarized by the lyrics from its chorus. ‘When the bombs blow gun smoke young men lose their lives. It doesn’t matter if it’s the left side or the right side whose side’s really right? ina this ya war!’. Simply, in war both sides are affected, both sides lose lives and most of the time its innocent lives who don’t even know why they are fighting in the first place. Since the existence of man, there has been wars and rumors of wars, however when two sides come together, miraculous things happen. They begin to think as one, one people-one love. So lets all try to come together as one. Bless up.” -Mighty Mystic

Mighty Mystic Background:
Mighty Mystic was born Kevin Mark Holness, in the countryside of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. As a child, Holness showed early interest in his native island’s music. It was common to hear him singing songs like “Buffalo Soldier,” “What the Hell the Police Can Do,” or hymns sung in Sunday morning church. These days, he goes by the moniker, Mighty Mystic and has made an evolving presence for himself on the east coast, currently out of Boston, MA.
