“Roller Coaster” Background:
“Roller Coaster” is the latest single released by Micah Brown. Before he puts it up for sale on iTunes, he’s giving it to you the fans for FREE, this week only. We at The Pier always enjoy the background to a song, especially while its new & fresh.

Here’s what Micah Brown had to say about his new song:
“Roller Coaster” is a song that I wrote upon returning home recently from playing shows in Hawaii. I had these rhythms and melodies stuck in my head after listening to so much island reggae and Jawaiian music on the radio, and came up with idea while still in the 50th State of mind.

I brought in Stan Frazier (of Sugar Ray) to help me develop and co-produce the song with Lewis Richards, and I think he was the perfect choice to give it that little bit of pop sensibility. We are really happy with the way it turned out.

I particularly like the way the theme of the lyrics evolves slightly as the song plays out from one verse to the next, and comes full circle by the end.”

Micah Brown Background:
Micah Brown rolled the dice and left the 9-to-5 workforce in pursuit of a full-time music career in the summer of 2010. Since then, he hasn’t looked back, accruing a colorful resume that includes: three critically-acclaimed studio releases, three Orange County Music Awards, countless North American tour dates and festival appearances, and a catalog of songwriting and performance credits as a session player at 17th Street Recording Studio in Costa Mesa, CA

Brown’s original music derives from the blues, outlaw country and rock-n-roll that drenched the garage while building hot rods with his dad growing up, largely evident in his debut EP “Down Like Hail”.

Micah’s first full-length record, “The Isle of Her”, received multiple album-of-the-year nominations following its summer 2012 release, which elaborated on a wider range of influences. The addition of reggae and surf overtones helped Brown garner an underground following of passionate, grass-roots fans; the album debuted in the Top 20 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter chart.

Both of Micah’s first two records were produced by Lewis Richards and released under 17th Street Records.

In early 2013, Micah joined Iration as full-time guitarist and backing vocalist, just in time for a memorable summer that included shows with Steel Pulse at the Orange County Fair and The Descendents at Red Rocks Amphitheatre supporting their latest album “Automatic”.

Capping off his most productive year on the road, Brown released a limited 7-inch record featuring two brand-new songs entitled “Gambles & Prospects”, available exclusively on blue-swirl vinyl through Creme Tangerine Records.

Micah’s next release is the single “Roller Coaster”, which will be available on iTunes in May of 2014.
