“Kings And Queens” Background:
For the first time in 5 years, John Brown’s Body will release their 8th studio album Kings And Queens, via Easy Star Records. This is the group’s first full length album since the 2008 release of the #1 iTunes Reggae selling album Amplify.

Kings And Queens is described by the group as a synthesis of every aspect of John Brown’s Body’s storied career. After close to two decades of existence, this pioneering band has finally crafted their ultimate statement, tying together styles they’ve dabbled in, paid respect to, created, or pushed forward into one tightly woven mosaic. JBB’s Future Roots is now present tense.

John Brown’s Body’s “Future Roots” uses reggae as a foundation, but incorporates dub, drum and bass, and electro to create a sound both timeless and forward. With Kings And Queens JBB’s songs are more focused on sufferation, urban realities and overcoming, with songs like “Plantation,” “Empty Hands,” and “The Battle” sparking protest. As the group describes, this is not beach resort reggae. This is reality. The new album isn’t all dark with bright spots that include tracks such as “Shine Bright”, “Old John Brown”, “Searchlight”, “Dust Bowl” and love ballad “Fall On Deep”.

The album’s 12 tracks are rich with a full live sound & even balance of dark & upbeat songs. Of the 12 tracks, only four are under 5 minutes with one song “Deep Summer,” just over six minutes. Needless to say, the album has depth & the FREE song, “Dust Bowl”, is a shining example of the albums quality.

With the FREE song “Dust Bowl” featured on our homepage, the group described the track as an anti-fracking message, drawing some comparison to the depression era dust bowl that came about because of poor farming practices and drought, which was basically a man-made apocalypse.

You can pre-order the album via Easy Star Records by clicking HERE. The album will be available in both physical & digital format on Tuesday, April 16th & the LP will be available as soon as May 28th.
