Dankrupt “California Everyday” Background:
Calirock is Dankrupt’s 3rd EP so it’s fitting that it only has 3 songs. The 3 songs carry quite the punch, however, as the group had the opportunity to work under the direction of multi-platinum producer, Sean Gould as the EP was mastered by Grammy Award winner, Rueben Cohen.
The lead single from the EP and the first song, “California Everyday” is a track that pays homepage the golden state under a sonic influence of Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers with minor musical accents & lyrics that display additional nods from to Rage Against The Machine to Ice Cube. The song has a Cali-rock sound with hip-hop, funk, distortion and an ambiance of reggae.
When discussing the song, the group tells The Pier that the track “is a strong statement of who we truly are. This song is a visual exploration of a day in the life of the band. Like the first words of the second verse, ‘there’s somethin different bout the way we’ve been livin, ridin Malibu Wave with our Malibu women,’ we all work ridiculously hard to make this dream come true, the minute we get some off time you will catch us in the beautiful nature of California with our friends and family celebrating life.”

Dankrupt best and aptly describes themselves as CALIROCK — A fresh mix of music and culture that the band embodies from their surroundings in Southern California. The band is a Los Angeles, CA 4-piece with Grant Bogorad (Vocals/Guitar), Enrique Paris (Lead-Guitar), Nick Banaszak (Bass), and Derek Shields (Keys/Vocals). The band views themselves as The New Age Sublime and while Sublime is clearly an influence, you’ll also hear Red Hot Chili-Peppers, 311 & Rage Against The Machine playing a part in their evolving sound as well.
