“Forever Summer” Background:
Anuhea’s new LIVE album drops this Tuesday, Sept 17th. Distributed under Jimmy Buffett’s Mailboat Records this release features 10 songs recorded live throughout her tours over the past couple years, as well as a bonus disc with previously unreleased-on-disc singles like “Forever Summer”, “High On Love” and “Perfect Day.”
When we asked her about the song “Forever Summer”, she dished quite a bit about the experience & song. Here’s what she told The Pier about the song, collaborating with Justin Young & the venue:
“Forever Summer was recorded live at the Walnut Room in Denver Colorado in the middle of my first big cross country headline tour this past Spring ’13. The sold out show had such good vibes that we ended up using most of the songs on ‘Butterflies’ from that show. ‘Forever Summer’ is an extra special song to me cause its about my baby daddy :) It features some Hawaiian language, talking about long live the island flowers of Maui, the Lokelani rose, and the Big Island’s Lehua blossom, where me and my bf are from, respectively. Justin Young’s voice is one of my all time favorites out of Hawaii, so I was so stoked to turn ‘Forever Summer’ into a duet with him. He ended up coming on tour as our opener, and we loved performing that song together every night. The live recording featured here is super fun with the full band, and you can almost see the terrible wanna-be hula I’m trying to do during the Hawaiian part… OMG!” – Anuhea

Anuhea Background:
Anuhea is a self-taught guitarist and song-writer born on the Hawaiian island of Maui. Anuhea blends Pop, Reggae and R&B with engaging conscious lyrics to create a style truly her own. Her debut album “Anuhea” released in April of 2009. It shot to #7 on the iTunes Pop Charts, #4 on R&B, and #3 on the World/Reggae Billboard Charts and multiple singles became commercial successes on Hawaii and AAA national radio.
Her second full length album, “For Love”, was released on iTunes on Valentines Day, Feb 14th 2012. Amidst the Grammy’s and the Whitney Houston passing, “For Love” still managed to hit the #20 spot on the ultra-competitive Pop Charts on iTunes. Its physical release was on March 13th, and with 5 radio singles in rotation in Hawaii, it quickly became the #1 album in the islands. The album featured special guest appearances by Jacob Hemphill of SOJA and JP of The Green.
As we’ve previously reported, she is expecting her first born child (IT’S A BOY!) and will be taking time off this fall-winter to focus on her new bundle of joy!
