Mike Pinto Releases New Single, Announces New Album

It’s been since the 2013 release of Truthful Lies that we’ve seen a full-length record from singer-songwriter Mike Pinto. On June 27th, Mike will release Hotel Rendezvous, a 10-track record recorded on tape!

The album was recorded at Killion Studios in Hollywood, CA with Orgone guitarist Sergio Rios and will include 10 previously unreleased songs, including the albums first single “Let You Go.” In addition to Sergio’s presence on the record, the album is also backed by keyboardist Roger Rivas of The Aggrolites/Long Beach Dub Allstars, Jon Asher of The Expanders, and Budda Foster of Through The Roots on with horns by Josh Molle, Max O’Leary & Eric Hirschhorn.

When we spoke with Pinto in an interview last fall he was living in Eugene, OR and was inspired by the area’s presence of folk and rock music. Having moved back to southern, CA, Mike gives us an update on what we can expect from his new record:
“The new album sounds like the record I’ve always wanted to make. Recording on tape feels so much better than digital to me. It feels like a Double EP in a way — There’s more ‘Dirty Reggae’ and Ska as opposed to Roots Reggae. Then the record takes a beautiful turn to Singer-Songwriter, where I feel the lyrics of those songs are unique. There’s a Johnny Cash Country song, and some ethereal sounds and vintage storytelling that I’m really excited for fans to hear. It definitely has roots in folk music.”

This will be Mike’s 5th studio album since releasing his debut self-titled record in 2003. He’s a story-teller through song and has a great repertoire of music that ranges from reggae, ska, folk, country and blues. As for Mike’s new single, “Let You Go,” it’s available for purchase right now and should be able to hold you over until the rest of Hotel Rendezvous is available.
