John Browns Body New Music & Fall Tour!

John Browns Body New Music & Fall Tour!

Reggae big-timers John Brown’s Body have been pretty busy in recent months, not only putting together their first new release since 2008’s Amplify, but a U.S. cross-country tour as well.

JBB in Dub is a 7-track EP that will be released September 18th via Easy Star Records. The release seeks to embody both their classic reggae roots as well as their progressive new-school dub style. The track list includes 6 dubs as well as “The Grass”, which features vocals from JBB front man Elliot Martin.

The EP was mixed by former JBB engineer and current 10 ft. Ganja Plant band member Craig “Dub Fader” Welsch in his studio. To give the fans a sample of their new music, JBB has posted their track Wellington on their Facebook page for free download.

Tommy Benedetti, JBB’s drummer, told The Pier how excited they are to get the fan’s reaction to their newest production:
This will be the first time we have brought some of the heavy dub explorations of our live show into a studio setting. We put together a set of brand new songs, classic JBB dubs that have never been recorded, and a new version of our fan-favorite “The Grass.” After seven full-length albums, this EP represents a unique sound for us, and we can’t wait for people to dig into it!

Just two days after JBB in Dub is slated to go public, the reggae octet will be launching their 4-week U.S. tour, kicking off at One Pelham East in Newport, RI. The shows continue up and down the East Coast before they pack up and ship out West, hitting venues in Cali, Colorado, and Oregon just to name a few. Accompanying them for a handful of these shows will be the Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Groundation, and Trevor Hall. Finally, to top it all off, JBB has already begun recording their next full-length studio album, which as of now, is set to drop in 2013.

So check out the tour dates to see if John Brown’s Body will be crashing a venue near you, and mark your calendars for September 18th for the long awaited follow up to Amplify!
