Aside from playing the 5th Annual California Roots Music & Arts Festival in May, Damian Marley is also reaching Gold Status in a collaboration with Skrillex as well as dishing out a new single titled “Is It Worth It? (Gun Man World)”.
Released in 2012, with the music video being released on September 6 of the same year, the Damian Marley and Skrillex collaboration “Make It Bun Dem” has officially reached Gold Status by the RIAA, meaning it has sold 500,000 copies worldwide.
The video, directed by Tony T. Datis has reached over 73 million views and along with the single, you can purchase the Make It Bun Dem After Hour Remixes on iTunes by clicking HERE!. You can purchase 6 different remixes of the track, including the original. The last time Damian Marley reached certified Gold was with the release of Welcome to Jamrock in 2006.
Along with this achievement, the Grammy winning, Jr. Gong has decided to bless fans with a brand new song entitled “Is It Worth It? (Gun Man World)” which you can listen to below. The song slows down a lot from the 2012 Skrillex collaboration and sounds more of the classic Damian that we’re used to hearing. Following up on what he did on Distant Relatives, the new song has a laid back rootsy, rock vibe and Damian’s socially conscious lyrics comprised from his rap infused flow.
The next listed show for Jr. Gong is May 25th as he’ll be performing at the 5th Annual California Roots Music & Arts Festival. He’ll be headlining the final day of the 3 day festival, sharing the stage with the likes of 311, Pepper, The Green & More.
