Wait For Green
All In
Self Released
(Wait for Green MySpace)
Wait For Green most definitely brings the ROCK in its huge reggae rock sound. It is also hard to believe this outfit from Florida has been together less than a year, solidifying All In as an even more amazing accomplishment.
With obvious influences of 311 and Incubus, Wait For Green still manages to do more than enough to construct its own overall style. The 12-track album opens with the incredibly infectious Build it Up, Burn it Down, this song is just begging to be played on the radio. It features an insanely catchy chorus and some nice Tim Mahoney (311) inspired soloing. Also reminiscent of early 311 and Incubus is the bass work and song structures to two of my personal favorite songs here, the sweet title track All In and the slap bass mayhem of Against the Sound.
A lot of credit has to go to vocalist, Drew Dockerill for utilizing his voice to the fullest here and for laying done some memorable and original vocal work. Particularly in some of the big choruses after a huge musical build up, like on From the Top of a Mountain. As we all know, nothing sinks a CD quicker than an average vocalist.
The album finishes with three songs recorded live in the studio and all almost sounding just as good as the polished studio tracks. With the light and breezy Let the Record Play best showcasing each individual’s talents in a unified perfect summertime song jam.
A must for fans of 311 and Ballyhoo! Wait for Green has delivered a debut album worth stopping for. All In indeed.
