Feel Good Muzik

Self Released

(NoNeedz MySpace)

This has to be close to one of the most aptly titled albums released this year. Feel Good Muzik it certainly is. Unlike a lot of hip hop music released these days, NoNeedz doesn’t waste time shouting about how much harder is than everyone else and there is no ‘Thug Life‘ stories here either. And if you are still not clear on NoNeedz thoughts on this, just take a listen to the insightful Whut Eye Need 2 No.

Produced by Paradigm Studios main man Justin Jones and Chapter 11’s Javier Contender, between the two they have created the perfect soundtrack to compliment NoNeedz always on point flow. Highlights include the Jurassic 5-like old school funk, on album opener Old Skull and the swing inspired Star Hop.

Yet it’s when NoNeedz ventures into mixing hip hop and reggae is where he truly creates something special. As stated in the song, Git 2 No Me it certainly is as, “cool as a summer breeze,” and features welcome live instrumentation. The reggae inspired Sister, Motha, Daughta is also one of the strongest female empowerment songs I have heard in a long time. There is definitely no disrespectful bare booty’s shaking in thongs on this track.

If the ridiculous posturing and lack of variety has kept you from digging further into exploring hip hop music, I highly recommend you give NoNeedz a try. Feel Good Musik overflows with intelligent rhymes, catchy backbeats with pop sensibilities and most importantly it is all delivered with NoNeedz’s original voice and original thoughts.
