The Bredrin Daddys

Bag O Tricks

Self Released

(The Bredrin Daddys MySpace)

For a band that has been around for more than 10 years without significant success (or luck) we are very fortunate The Bredrin Daddys continue to persist to release new music. Now it may have been a while since its last full-length release, but once cooking it does not take long listening to Bag O Tricks before you rediscover why The Bredrin Daddys made a powerful impression in the first place.

Opening with the light-hearted Hello Hello, the three Bredrin Daddy MCs (1Dabred, Cracka T and Geno) deliver some amusing wordplay and it is a nice warm-up before the more aggressive rock of songs kick in like on React/Respond, Flow and Evil Opera. The band also pulls out of the bag a few new tricks – some like none that they have performed before. Such as on the dancehall fun of Get Naughty and the mellow swing of About You, not only are these new sounds for the Daddys but both are definite album highlights.

With a balanced mix of reggae, rock and hip hop, Bag O Tricks is certainly the band's most accomplished all round effort, even in terms of production - which can't be faulted.

With the band's veteran status, it is cool to see it has used this experience to its advantage. As Cracka T said in a recent interview with The Pier, "for us as a band I don’t know if we can do any better on creating the sound that we are going for..." I for one have to agree.
