MP3 Leak of the Week: Sublime With Rome

Following the July 2015 release of Sublime with Rome‘s sophomore album, Sirens, Rome Ramirez told us in an interview that former Sublime drummer & DJ, Marshall ‘Ras MG’ Goodman, did a remix of his song “Gasoline.” When we noticed that the remix was never released, we reached out to SwR’s management who was gracious enough to allow us to give the track away for FREE! Sublime’s 2017 Black Friday Record Store Day Release

Video: Toko Tasi – Rockstar (Remix) ft. Ethan Tucker

Shot and directed by Michael Artega, here is the official music video for Toko Tasi‘s “Rockstar” (Remix)” ft. Ethan Tucker. The video pays tribute to the Sublime family and Long Beach community with additional footage shot in Ethan Tucker’s hometown of Olympia, WA. The video shows Tasi skating at the lighthouse which was at the same location where he was filmed skating in Sublime’s “What I Got” music video. Lots of shots were filmed in and around Long Beach that included local hang-outs of the late Bradley Nowell. Also included in the video is Miguel Happoldt, Ras-1 & Opie Ortiz of Long Beach Dub Allstars, Moi of Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds, Mic Dangerously of Zen Robbi, in addition to DJ Cutty Mcfly, and professional skateboarders Aaron Johnson (Ajax) & Julie Kindstrand. Beebs Releases New Single featuring Perro Bravo

A unique pairing took place when Beebs was announced to be in the studio with Perro Bravo. The result of that connection is seeing its fruition with the release of a new single by Beebs with “Lights Out,” produced by Miguel Happoldt and his band Perro Bravo. (more…)

Bad Brains’ HR Documentary Released to Theaters

Often a common theme when musicians across multiple genres state their list of influential artists, Bad Brains have been a dominant force in music dating back to their inception in 1977. Undoubtedly the most iconic member from the DC Based hardcore-punk outfit is none other than lead vocalist and frontman Paul “HR” Hudson. It has recently been revealed that a documentary entitled “Finding Joseph I” has officially been released to detail and spotlight the career and life of HR. (more…)

Josh Fischel’s ‘Music Tastes Good’ Fest. Enters Year 2

Just four days after Josh Fischel put on his first festival, Music Tastes Good, he passed away on Sept 29th, 2016; he was 47-years-old. He did what felt unreachable in bringing the entire Long Beach community together over an event that, in its inaugural year, required 4 stages & shutting down 8-9 blocks of downtown over 3 days. 1 Year later, Josh’s spirit is abundant in Music Taste Goods second year. Dirty Heads’ David Foral Releases New Single “Crash Over Me”

While we wait for the Oct. 13th release of Dirty Heads new album Swim Team, bassist David Foral is continuing to release music of his own. Following up on the drop of his most recent single, Paved The Way, featuring Hip Hop MC Big Nes, Foral returns with “Crash Over Me” alongside female vocalist Rebecca Arscott and Long Beach Dub Allstars horn-player, Tim Wu. New Sublime Documentary In The Works

It’s been since the 1998 independent release of Stories, Tales, Lies & Exaggerations or perhaps the late 2001 drop of VH-1’s Behind The Music that a proper telling of Sublime‘s story was documented. 2018 will be the year we see a new documentary on the beautifully complicated band that we continue to celebrate in Sublime. Cydeways Drops New Singles Ahead Of Debut Full-Length

Santa Barbara reggae rock quartet Cydeways recently dropped another single off their upcoming album But It Ain’t House Music. The track titled “Love For Two” highlights the band’s softer side, contrasting well with their previous single, an upbeat ska song called “Trippin’ Like The Disco.” But It Ain’t House Music is expected to release on September 15th, 2017. Video: Sublime – Doin Time

Sublime’s self-titled record is officially 21-years-old. It’s quite amazing to see how the legacy of Sublime continues to grow as it matures becoming a household brand. Sublime has re-released its entire catalog onto vinyl, has merchandise inside Spencers, Wal*mart, KMart, and as of this month will be debuting their presence inside liquor stores nationwide with their new Mexican-Style Lager beer courtesy of Alesmith.
