Summer is right around the corner and for anybody that loves live music, that only means one thing – It’s finally music festival season! Fortunately, during the month of May, festival season really gets going. With events all over the place it is sometimes hard to pick which events to attend. For The Pier, we tend to choose events that are a bit top-heavy with the booking of reggae-rock bands. There’s a new festival hitting southern California, and from the looks of the line-up and attractions, it’s making a good first impression. The inaugural Blaze ‘N’ Glory Festival that will be held on May 15th and 16th at the San Manuel Amphitheatre in San Bernardino, CA features artists like Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, Pepper, and hip-hop heavyweights Method Man & Redman. The Pier will be in attendance this weekend for Reggae On The Block in Orlando, FL as we see Festival Season take shape with a different festival happening each week. This edition of The Pier’s Weekend Show Locator found plenty of bands playing other interesting gigs this weekend with the likes of Easy Star Allstars, The Green, Mike Pinto, House of Shem, and many more.
Charlotte, NC has some road warriors with the 3-piece reggae-rock outfit known as Sun-Dried Vibes. After spending 7 weeks touring across the country, The Movement has announced their headlining Rescue tour that will get underway May 15th and stretch through the end of June. Their new single, also titled “Rescue”, will most certainly play as soundtrack to the 21 date tour. (more…)

For the first time, this Memorial Day weekend, The Pier will head up to Napa for BottleRock. Born Jamar Rolando McNaughton, reggae fans are growing more familiar with the young Jamaican reggae-star now known as Chronixx. He’ll kick off his US tour on May 23rd at California Roots Music and Arts Festival before embarking on his Capture Land tour in the US that concludes June 20th. (more…)
