Through The Roots has been busy, keeping a full schedule on multiple tours and writing new music over the last two years. The Pier caught up with the band during their recent show in Washington supporting headliners Rebelution to discuss more details about what the band has been up to lately.
Since 2010, Through The Roots has released 3 EPs, a full length album and multiple singles while finding their way onto national tours. Through The Roots is a group that knows how to network, growing the band’s brand. During their recent stop in Washington, The Pier caught up with the guys and talked shop after a warm outdoor set at Marymoor Park.
Relentless touring and collaboration has been the key for the band. They recently put on a unique intimate setting performance in San Diego playing acoustic alongside Iration and Mike Pinto, while joining the nationwide Falling Into Place tour supporting Rebelution and theier new album.
Through The Roots has developed a close connection with Rebelution over the years, having toured together many times as it’s not uncommon to see TTR’s guitarist/vocalist Evan Hawkins playing guitar onstage with Rebelution in addition to Rebelution’s Eric Rachmany coming up for the Through The Roots set to perform their collaborative track, 2015’s “Bear With Me.”

Through The Roots continues to stay busy writing and releasing new music, whether on the road or at home. According to the band’s bassist, Budda Foster, a new album is in the works with some sneak peak tracks dropping ahead of the new record. “Miss Lovely” is the latest single released by Through The Roots and the guys have decided to return the love from fans by offering the track for free download. Budda shared that another new track is already being played live on tour with big plans for the song.
“The name of the song is “Bloodshot Eyes” and we are still trying to find the right artist that would fit the sound of the song and take it over the top (as a guest feature). We have a couple in mind that we have talked to, but the feature will be a surprise. It is going to be a part of the new album we are working on, but we are putting it our early as a single/album sneak peak.”

While “Bloodshot Eyes” is still on the docket for a studio recording sometime during this tour, “Miss Lovely” is all done and ready for fans. Evan expressed his excitement for the new song and said: “This is some of our best work yet and offers a small glimpse of what’s to come from Through The Roots. We really wanted to honor our longtime fans and supporters by allowing them a FREE Download or a ‘Pay What You Want’ option.”
