The 6th annual California Roots Music and Arts Festival will once again take place at the historic Monterey County Fairgrounds Memorial Day Weekend, May 22-24, 2015. Performing this year will be an array of top tier national talent, bringing in over 40,000 fans, gathering in the bay area to support
the progressive US Reggae movement.

The first round of artists revealed to be on this year’s line-up includes many talented musicians from around the nation, including San Diego’s own Slightly Stoopid! The Pier is very excited to see thousands of Stoopid-heads pack The Bowl, hanging out with one of their favorite bands as they rock and jam for the fist time on that signature stage.

To many fans’ excitement, booked at the upcoming festival are a couple bands whose performances were missed last year. None other than Tribal Seeds and Fortunate Youth. These bands both have a true following and The Pier could not be more happy to see them once again at California Roots.

Another band that has made a big impression on California Roots fans, and an act who will be returning this year is Nahko and Medicine For The People. After a inspirational and breathtaking performance at last year’s California Roots Festival, Nahko has been highly requested and discussed on social media. After a year of extensive festival performances, and tours across the globe, Nahko and Medicine For The People will be an act not to miss this year!

In a statement about this first round of artists announced to be on this years California Roots line-up Festival Co-Producer and Talent Buyer, Dan Sheehan explains, “We are thrilled and humbled about the success of the California Roots brand, but we have just touched the surface on how we are going to grow and expand. One of our goals is to continue to innovate and bring fresh takes on the music festival experience. We take pride in presenting an eclectic mix of expected and unexpected artists to 2015’s festival.”

To help grow their budding music scene, making their California Roots Festival debut appearance in 2015 will be the Hip-Hop stylings of G. Love and Special Sauce and Dilated Peoples, east coast Easy Star Records’ Dub-Rhythm-Reggae masters Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad and John Brown’s Body, as well as two solo artists that have been gaining notoriety with Trevor Hall and Mike Love.
