Thanks for all the input and the suggestions for who Pier readers would like to see open on the Slightly Stoopid/Pepper Summer Tour.
There was quite a mixed bag of up and coming and established acts suggested. Whoever opens the show whether it is based on one of these suggestions or some other band/artist, regardless we all know it is going to be a kick ass summer tour.
Thanks again and no more suggestions will be posted or considered. Feel free to continue to discuss all the great bands in the genre by posting on The Pier MySpace. It's a great central meeting place.
Hey Everyone, Just wanted to fill everyone in on what has been happening recently with Iration. We have spent the majority of the last two months (Dec. and Jan) in Hawaii writing material for a new album along with Grammy Award Winner Charles Brotman at his studio (Which you can check out at: www.lavatracks.com) in our hometown of Waimea (Kamuela), HI.
We have written a total of 12 new songs and will be spending the next month and a half in California rehearsing the songs in preparation for recording them in March. We will continue writing new songs during this time and will be playing these songs at our live shows. The album is as yet untitled and will definitely be a step in a new direction for the band. We are continuously trying to grow and figure out exactly what Iration music is. This album will represent another level of growth for the band and we hope you all come and hear some of the new tracks live. Aloha to everyone for your support of our music and we want you to know we make the music for you so if you have any ideas or suggestions we are completely open to them.

Take a gander at the new tune, Ooh La La, below (recorded live at Slim's in San Francisco this past summer) that will be on the band's new CD due out this spring.
Lurker is a project / hostile / getaway / band that functions unbelievably well in it's dis-functional environment. This is an Ocean Beach project in the heart of temptation but surrounded by motivation. The songs happen totally organically and a different writing technique is used on all the songs with no expectation other than to collaborate.
The Lurker track up for download (bottom right) is Another Day Hustling (Feat: Touch of CAS).
Firstly check out this tight video of Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley with Chali 2na at Reggae on the River August 2007. Then go to Chali 2na's MySpace page and download his new track Rock It from Fish Market Pt2.
Ok guys, a cool fan of The Pier did up a sweet new Pier logo and I temporarily currently have it up on this slightly new look front-page.
Now The Pier knows our web-design is pretty simple at best (hey we are going for content!!!) But which do you prefer the old school blue logo or the new funkier slight reggae influenced one?
The Pier will keep whatever the majority wants and implement it throughout the site. Please have some input into this, especially if you are a regular visitor to the site and may actually care what it looks like.
Drop us a message or comment on MySpace RIGHT HERE.

This Sunday night The Pier will post another Exclusive Mp3 Leak from SoCal supergroup Lurker. The band features members of Gadfly, Diego Roots, Bargain Music & the man Mike Pinto himself.
As an interesting twist, The Pier wants you to choose what song we will post. You have two choices and you can vote for your choice by either posting/messaging The Pier MySpace or by sending an email to Lurker Song Poll.
Lurker mastermind Tommy Dubs describes your two options as follows:
"Honestly you never know who will be asleep in the Lurker studio when you open the door in the morning. Sessions usually start at 9am and last into the wee hours of the morning. The studio has been a refuge from friends kicked out by girlfriends, people passing through town, bro's too fucked up to drive home or homeless people sleeping in the shed behind the studio. With Lurker songs, sometimes two people start out a song by recording the rhythm section, leave it open on the computer, and when they get back... the song has been taking over by different people and the song is going a completely different direction. Lurker really is made up of a bunch of lurkers..." Another Day Hustling (Feat: Touch of CAS)
"The title says it all... It's about taking life into your own hands and not waiting around for it to come to you. This song was written, played and recorded in 6 hours by Tommy Dubs, Touch of CAS and R. Kelly. This song is a perfect example of how shit just happens... when we came together to record, we had no idea what we wanted to lay down that day so this is what came out. If you listen close to the hook, you here "Another Day" being sung and it really pulls the hook together. The funny thing is, is that this was a total accident in the recording process. We accidentally left a mic on when we were hearing play back and we were just fucking around and this got put to tape. We discovered it hidden on a vocal track when we were normalizing and now the shit is the backbone of the hook."
So what will it be P-dubs Sleeping or Another Day Hustling?
Check out the ridiculously awesome Burn Tonight RIGHT HERE.
This song along with three other brand new ones will be released next month on a mini-EP. Other featured artists on this disc are Bobo David (Judgement Yard), Phileano, Tony Tiger Styles, and of course Big Nes.
311 are back in its Hive Studio in Los Angeles writing, jamming and having a good time exploring new material for their next album. The band have several new song ideas in the works. As you know, making a new album takes time, but the good news is that it's all underway! The band is in the initial writing stage, so there are no song titles, album title or release date at this time. We are still a long ways away from those details, but wheels are turning for new tunes from 311.
As P-Nut previously stated, “We are playing in the studio's live room and making ideas as we go, and we are planning on going-through those sessions and making songs from them. It's a dream-come-true to be working like this, relaxed and fun. Expect great things.”
I'm sorry to all our fans who thought we would be going on tour with The Expendables and The B Foundation. There was a misunderstanding, that is why we are on some of the flyers. It has nothing to do with the bands themselves, we love The Expendables and The B Foundation and hope they have a great tour. To our fans that hoped on seeing us, I'm sorry and hopefully we can make it out your way soon.
In the meantime check out this vid of the Dirty Heads live on Japanese radio.
The Supervillains Sign Another Deal With Law Records
The Supervillains MySpace reports:
Just got back from San Diego Where I met with representatives from Law Records and Controlled Substance Sound Labs. After much ganja smoke and deliberation we worked out terms to the next album.
Preproduction has already begun and recording will start within the next month. What songs will be on it you might ask?
The slowed down version of Little Girl, The Pit and CarSex to name a few.....
I'm on the Amtrak regional headed from Philly up to NYC. I've got a photo shoot tomorrow with my old friend and photographer Brandon Finney. I just spent the last three days in studio finishing up with the Houseman and Mark Boyce and my remaining touchups for the new record. We are really closing in on it now and we will deliver the finished record by Feb 14th. It feels good--real good. Of course we have too many tracks to fit on one album so the hard part is here choosing which tracks make the cut and which will be released as b sides on the internet and overseas. It’s always a tough call. Then of course I have to name the record. My working title has always been "Down and Dirty" but now there are a couple different titles in the lineup.
I spent today overdubbing on my favorite new jam "Peace, Love and Happiness" and a classic from my side project Lottery titled "Lottery" which GLASS recut for the new record. That joint sounds sick. I also cut vox on the smoked out "Who's got the Weed". Today was one of those good days in the studio where everything is clicking and I was on it. I will be back in Philly next week for 2 days and that should wrap it for me.
On other news, Barack Obama housed the competition at the Iowa Caucus with an eloquent and passionate speech that was highly publicized on the post-caucus commentary. My Dad is a big Obama supporter and even though I've been pulling for Clinton I might need to jump on the band wagon soon. Anyway, it is time for a change and I'm excited that I have a record coming out during the election year. It’s funny because even though this record feels like a party a lot of the tracks are politically conscious.

No Doubt's Adrian Young made a special appearance on Loveline earlier this week. He revealed that fans can expect "a little bit of the old" on the new No Doubt album and that it will have more ska songs than previous albums.
As stated in The Pier's Most Anticipated Albums of 2008 feature, fingers crossed.
