What up people? For those inquisitive minds out there, the Bag would like to take the time to update ya'll on our ambitions for a follow up effort to Nooner, the debut album we released in January 2006. (Edited)
Which brings us to now. As we head into fall, the Bag is getting amped to enter Gadgetbox Studio in Santa Cruz, California, run by the engineering mastermind of Andy Zenczak (check out the studio at http://www.gadgetbox.net/ ). We've got over a dozen new tunes to lay down with the ultimate goal of finishing recording by year-end, the completion of mixing and mastering by January/Feb, and a target release of late Spring. The end goal in all of this is to deliver to you a sophmore effort with the same chilled out reggae beach vibe, but with hopefully a more diverse, mature sound (we're even going to let Steve sing on a tune).
So let us tell you what is coming up for The Pier. New Ask Weege on Friday and next Monday there will be a new Part One Tribe interview. Later in the week look for more CD reviews and an interview with Shakedown.

Long Beach's 3rd Alley has posted the following news on MySpace:
"Just wanted to drop a line and inform you on the haps with the new album. First off, Josh Fischel (from Bargain Music) is producing it.
We should be done with most of the recording by October 4th! We'll be doing a little snap crackle and pops here and there after to make it more tantalizing. The artwork is amazing and is being done by Luke Brookshier (King of the Hill, Sponge Bob).
There will be 13 studio tracks and 3 home cooked ones. Possible titles we are deciding on are:
EVIL LURKS SHINY SHADY PEOPLE MOVERS AND SHAKERS
All 3 are very relevant to the album, so let us know which you like best."
Hey gang, the site has been updated with a couple of new CD Reviews and a trashy new Ask Weege column. This week, Weege talks about groupies, do they exist or are they just a myth? And yes we have sunk that low!
880 South's sophomore effort looks it may be delayed for Spring 2008, even though the album is almost reaching completion. As front man Weege pointed out in one of his recent Pier columns, it's not always the best idea to release a summer feeling album in the winter time.
The good news is there are talks of a 880 South live-in-studio all reggae album for Winter 2007. 880 South is also playing West Beach Fest in Santa Barbara on October 27th 2007. Other upcoming California dates are on the 880south.com web-site.
Further good news for Weege is he recently picked up a sponsorship by Clear Voice. His testimonial and bio will be released when their new website debuts here and that might mean he will sound even better when he sings haha.
Also 880 South's other sponsor Left Coast Boardwear just released a new website and mailing list. On LCB's new website, there is a link for the original Floppy Rods CD "Sinus". Hear 880 South before they were 880 South. There are only about 70 left. They sold a lot in the past few days, so go grab one while you can.
As a huge supporter of the reggae, rock and hip hop scene, Sense Boardwear's NEW website is only weeks away from being complete with all new merchandise. In the meantime, contact them directly via MySpace to pick up their new Reggae Themed clothing. Check it out and add them to your MySpace by clickin' the banner above.
Not only do we have an exclusive interview with Miles from Slightly Stoopid, but we will have a new interview with underground reggae rock legends, Deadman Relay (formerly KB Posse).
Also there will be a new Ask Weege column addressing all the ins-and-outs of band management.
This will indeed be a big day for The Pier so make sure you stop by.
Who doesn't love free music? The generous Part One Tribe has put some of its back catalog online. Go here to grab MP3s of entire albums such as The General Consensus, Let's Get Down and For What Its Worth. Plus there are complete live shows for download too.
And the winner is Chapter 11, so go check out some Chapter 11 tunes and while you are there grab a free download of Without You by Daddy Scotty (C11) and LuLu.
That's right folks, next Friday The Pier will be posting a brand spanking new in-depth interview with Miles from Slightly Stoopid. Tight!
Make sure you check out the new interviews posted today with the Dirty Heads and Slackstring. Each interview has accompanying videos, so if you haven't checked out these bands before give them a listen as you read.
Be sure to befriend us on MySpace too for all the latest site updates.
Sacramento's Shakedown has its new album 'New Sound Delivery' now up for sale on www.cdbaby.com. It's a must buy and look for a review for it at The Pier shortly.

To all my fans, First of all I wanted to thank you for all of your support throughout the years. Without you I would be nothing. Second I want to let you know that my journey with Rebelution has come to an end. The past three years with the band have been some of the best years of my life and I am truely grateful for the experience. However, my heart has felt for a few months now that Rebelution is not the right avenue for me and that there is more out there for me to achieve musically. I feel as though we've come so far in such a short amount of time from Isla Vista to Hawaii, and this may be the craziest time to leave the band but I have to follow my heart.
I feel as though my passion for writing and performing songs needs to be directed elswhere, where I can pour myself into my music wholeheartedly. I have started my own acoustic myspace page which is extremely rough right now but will be developing everyday. For those of you who like the songs that I wrote such as runnin', ordinary girl, heart like a lion, what I know, courage to grow, and on my mind, please keep in touch. I don't know if my music in the future will be reggae, rock, hip hop, or a combination of all three, but I look forward to writing and singing more songs that I can be proud of. I hope for your continued support.
much appreciation and love, Matt Velasquez (guitarist and vocals) My myspace address is http://myspace.com/mattvquez
