The Aggrolites are about to go out on the second leg of their nationwide tour this spring. The 23 stops will cover ground from coast to coast. This leg of the tour kicks off at The Catalyst on April 26th. Then heads up to San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall, where the dirty reggae of The Aggrolites will meet with the super funk of Orgone for the first night of their own nationwide tour.
”Every time we do a run in the U.S or even in Europe for that matter, it’s like a small reunion with people that we maybe only see a couple times a year.” Says Roger Rivas, piano/organ player of The Aggrolites. ”Every place we go we have our groups of friends that we have made over the years of touring.”
Fans can look forward to The Aggrolites working in their favorite classic Jamaican & UK Reggae tunes. They have been doing a song by The Blenders called ”Decimal Currency” as well as ”The Good The Bad The Upsetters” originally performed by The upsetters.
From California, The Aggrolites will head east for shows with Old Man Markley and/or Brothers of Brazil, and two shows at the end of the tour with Street Dogs. It seems as if the spring tour is only a warm up for a blazin’ summer.
Starting July 11th The Aggrolites will meet up with 311 and Slightly Stoopid, as the opener for 22 shows of the 2012 Summer Unity Tour.
When asked how their addition to the unity tour came about, Rog of The Aggrolites told The Pier ”Well, a lot is owed to Kyle, Miles and the rest of the cats to Slightly Stoopid. They really have been helping us out and opening doors for us over the years. This is one of them. That combined with our awesome management team, you can’t go wrong! Obviously 311 was down with it too. It’s one of those things that you get offered and you’d be a fool not to take. We are trying to introduce OUR style of reggae to an audience that maybe is a little more use to the 311 style of reggae. This is a great opportunity to give the crowd another flavor. A dirtier funky flavor!”
