Matisyahu & Common Kings’ New Single ‘Broken Crowns’

When hype was building shortly after Matisayhu and Common Kings broke the news that they’d be hitting the road together for numerous tour dates in the Fall, Common Kings informed The Pier that “fans could expect some fire to drop soon between the two acts.” Common Kings and Matisyahu fulfilled their promise, dropping a collaborative single “Broken Crowns” via Mensch House Records. Jimmy Cliff Confirms ‘The Harder They Come’ Sequel

The 1972 cult classic film The Harder They Come, which starred a young Jimmy Cliff, is often credited with taking reggae music from the streets of Jamaica and introducing it to a global audience. Video: DELA & The Aggrolites – Atlantic & Smith

Dela sax player for Slightly Stoopid and Karl Denson (The Rolling Stones) are set to release their debut album, Opening Night, on November 3rd via Stoopid Records. The duo have teamed up with LA reggae stalwarts the Aggrolites to create an 11-track galactic fusion of jazz and reggae that features numerous guest vocalists and performers. “Atlantic & Smith” is the first single from the record and features Angelo Moore of Fishbone. The album also includes guest appearances courtesy of Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, Rebecca Jade, Kyle McDonald of Slightly Stoopid and Jesse Wagner of the Aggrolites. Bad Brains’ HR Documentary Released to Theaters

Often a common theme when musicians across multiple genres state their list of influential artists, Bad Brains have been a dominant force in music dating back to their inception in 1977. Undoubtedly the most iconic member from the DC Based hardcore-punk outfit is none other than lead vocalist and frontman Paul “HR” Hudson. Video: Inner Circle – Light My Fire (ft. Konshens & J Boog)

The Bad Boys of Reggae, Inner Circle, have been busy this year sharing the stage alongside such acts as Iration and Fortunate Youth. In a new single they did featuring Konshens and J Boog, the group looked to The Doors for inspiration as they put out a reggae stoney interpretation of the original ’67 hit, “Light My Fire”. Inner Circle is gearing up to celebrate 50 years as a group and plan to release more new music in the coming future that will feature Mykal Rose and Maxi Priest.
