Bad Brains Returning with New EP

Blending reggae and punk since the seventies, Bad Brains recently announced plans for a new EP. Filling in for the Brains’ iconic lead singer H.R. will be Jamaican jammer Jesse Royal. While details for the new release are limited, the collaboration between Brains and Royal will certainly cause fans of the band’s reggae side to rejoice. (more…)

Video: Sublime – What I Got

It was 19 years ago today that Sublime released their iconic self-titled release via MCA Records… July 30, 1996 for those that don’t want to count backwards. The album was produced by David Kahne and Paul Leary resulting in a masterpiece that created a sub-genre of music with an impact felt through the entire music industry. The Pier exists today because of Sublime and all of their wonderful influences of music we’d later discover. Enjoy the song and video…

Bob Marley’s Island Years Box Set

As reported in February, the Marley family allowed unprecedented access to UMe, a division of the Universal Music Group, together with Tuff Gong International, to cherry pick from their personal and private collections of unreleased material in order to compile a special release in honor of what would have been Bob Marley‘s 70th birthday year. Video: Tatanka – “Easy”

On Sept. 9th, 2014, Denver, Colorado’s Reggae-Dub quartet, Tatanka, released their new self-titled album via Roots Musician Records. Track 4 off that album has just received its official music video for the song “Easy”. Recorded through various parts of southern CA, the video was directed by Garrett Laver. Video: Spiritual Rez – One Big Song

They pulled off a unique way to present the lyrics in addition to blending it with some fun live footage of their shows. Is it me or does the singer look like Jay dressed up as Silent Bob!? 2015 Dry Diggings Festival

California Roots Music & Arts Festival is held twice a year in May and October inside California and now South Carolina. 311 commemorated their 25 years as a group with the boxset release of Archive. The boxset includes 81 tracks including unreleased songs, B-sides, bonus tracks, pre-production recordings and demos.
