2013 OC Music Awards!

2013 OC Music Awards!

With the birthplace of the reggae-rock-punk-hip hop-acoustic melting pot of Southern California, the OC Music Awards have just been announced! And, there is an abundance of Pier artists being honored and nominated!

Right at the top of any music award ceremony has to be Album of the Year or Best Album. For the OC Music Awards, the “Best New Album” category is littered with reggae-rock talent, such as Micah Brown with his Isle of Her release, No Doubt’s Push and Shove, Reel Big Fish’s Candy Coated Fury and The Dirty HeadsCabin by the Sea album release.

For the majority of the categories up for the 2013 OC Music Awards, artists featured on The Pier left their fingerprints all over the musical calendar year in 2012. Other notable artists nominated are Seedless, 80 Proof, Badfish and the aforementioned Dirty Heads and Reel Big Fish in the “Best World” category.

Along with The Dirty Heads, Reel Big Fish and No Doubt, both Micah Brown and the up-and-coming talents of the Wheeland Brothers also received multiple nominations, respectively.

With so many talented musicians sprouting from the Orange County area in California, there has to be a great mastermind recording all of this music, right? That man is Lewis Richards of 17th Street Recording Studio in Costa Mesa, CA. There is literally a waiting list to get into the studio with “Lew Dog”. However, it is not just Lew Richards, his right hand man, Anik Dang, was also nominated for “Best Music Producer” alongside his producing counterpart, Richards.

If you had any second guesses or questions whether 2012 was an outstanding year for the reggae-rock genre, the list of nominees will certainly win over the skeptics. Award winners will be announced on March 9th, 2013 at The Grove in Anaheim, CA.
