West Beach Festival 2010 Line-Up Announced

The organizers of the 2010 West Beach Festival in Santa Barbara are painfully slowly revealing the 2010 line-up on its Facebook page. A new band is announced every 20 minutes or so, so far killer bands like The Movement, SOJA, The Beautiful Girls, Passafire, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and more.

I am sure they are saving the announcement of the bigger acts for towards the end. We will post the completed initial line-up here tomorrow.

Update: UB40, Katchafire, Easy Star All Stars, Iration, Collie Buddz and Stranger have been also added to the bill. What are your thoughts on the line-up? Probably not as strong as last year, but still not bad.

Sublime with Rome Update

From Rome:

What’s up everyone, first and for most thank you for all of the love and support you have given us. You guys are what keep the wheels moving. Bud, Eric and I just toured America and played to sold out audiences the wholeway and it was a blast. We connected with so many fans it was rad.

Our next show is in Santa Barbara with the Dirty Heads. Should be an amazing show. We’re gonna hit the studio soon and put some of our ideas on wax and try and get a single out soon. Anyway thanks again for the continued support. See you in the pit!

Unreleased Rancid Video Clip

Of late, Rancid has been posting unreleased music videos on YouTube and I was super-stoked to see the band did a video for one of my favorite Rancid songs (Crane Fist from Life Won’t Wait). Seriously, Matt Freeman’s bass-line in this song is probably one of the funkiest I have heard put to a reggae tune – simple but so effective. Check out the video below.

June Hot Album Releases

Summer is starting to heat up (well in some places of the country) and so now is the time we get a ton of reggae rock releases. This is what we can expect for June:

Jack JohnsonTo the SeaOut Now

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Jack Johnson drops his latest effort today. Sounds a little more upbeat than his previous effort. Will undoubtedly be the soundtrack to a lot of backyard BBQs this summer.

Chali 2na Fish Market Vol 26/8

Not really reggae rock, but this Jurassic 5 MC will get any party jumping and tracks from his second mixtape like No Bad Mon feature some badass dancehall flava.

Authority Zero Stories of Survival6/22

What will undoubtedly be one of the strongest releases of the summer. Arizona’s Authority Zero, demonstrate why it has had such longevity in the punrk/ska/reggae scene. Stories of Survival is its best release since Passage in Time. CLICK HERE to read a review.

Various ArtistsSummer of Silverback 6/22

Dropping exclusively here at The Pier, the Silverback roster is unleashing a devastating new compilation for your listening pleasure. More information coming next week – get ready!

Also for June, Clear Conscience will release its new album in a couple of weeks entitled, Clear Conscience and Friends – Herbal Remedy.
