Interview: Sublime with Rome

We celebrate 420 with our biggest interview ever – Sublime with Rome!

Tonight April 20, 2010 is Sublime with Rome’s first show (The Palladium, Los Angeles) in a sold-out tour and surely the most anticipated tour of the Spring. Reunited Sublime member’s Bud Gaugh (drums) and Eric Wilson (bass) are embarking on a new musical chapter with a fresh new kid (Rome) and are excited to build on a musical legacy that grows stronger every day.

There is no doubting with no Sublime there would be no Pier, so it is with great pleasure The Pier got the opportunity to have possibly the most in-depth Sublime related interview in years.

Thanks Bud Gaugh!

Show To Watch: Tatanka

It was just a typical bar show on a Saturday night, until Tatanka stepped on stage. This Dub three-piece from Denver, CO quickly changed the atmosphere of the night. Immediately, Big Fish Pub in Tempe morphed into a creative mesmerizing spectacle. Smoke lifted into a green and red haze behind Guitarist/Vocals ChampIan as he steadily began their track The Shark, a stoney jam with a sinister West Coast Whistle that hooks you in and guitar riffs that drag you away in a wave of sound.

I sat in amazement by the skill of Bass/Keys/Bass synth player Malonestar, who grooved effortlessly between all three instruments all while rocking some classy dress shoes(ha). Tracks like Dubtronic and My Permission punched with funky synth basslines accompanied by solid keys and ingenious delays.

The band continued to showed off its talent with inventive renditions of Gorillaz and Cold Play tunes. From typical to thrilling, Tatanka made my Saturday night with their powerful stage presence and performance. If you enjoy great Dub Music, the intensity and musicianship carried by these three is sure to entertain and impress you.
