Exposed: Kiwi

Kiwi is the ongoing musical endeavor of Vera Sousa and Alex Tea, conceived in 1998 when Vera and Alex met in high school. Grounded in roots rhythm, Kiwi invokes a variety of influences including the classics of Jamaican reggae, American folk, soul and R&B, Brazilian traditional music, jazz, and classical music.

In over a decade of making music together, Kiwi has performed all over the eastern U.S., as well as in Brazil. Notable performances include headlining the Camp Reggae festival in Isabella, TN (2005-7), opening for Groundation in Canoa Quebrada, Brazil (2006), opening for Ritchie Spice at The Haunt in Ithaca, NY (2007) and numerous appearances at local festivals and community events. They currently reside in Jersey City, NJ.

Supervillains Summer Plans

The Supervillains has just announced its 2010 Summer Tour schedule. Starting on June 18th, its will headline their way up the East Coast from their homebase of Orlando, FL up through the Northeast where they will meet up their friends Streetlight Manifesto for a month-long stint spanning the US and Canada. “The Ship of Fools Tour” which also includes The Wonder Years and Dan Potthast (of ska-punk godfathers MU330) will debut at the famed Recher Theatre in Towson, MD on June 23rd and end at the Warehouse Live in Houston TX on July 21st.

Interview: Tomorrows Bad Seeds

Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds has been quietly building a solid following through relentless touring and with each impressive tour another door opens, recently the band got to open for 311. With an accomplished sophomore album (Sacred for Sale) about to be unleashed on the public, 2010 looks like a year TBS will take things to even another level.

Guitarist Sean Chapman is excited to share his enthusiasm for what the group has in store for us with its first visit to The Pier.

Exposed: Xaltation

Xaltation – In the End

Hailing from Miami, Florida, Xaltation has developed into the front runner for Rock and Reggae in the very talented Orlando music scene. Originally formed in 2008, as a solo project of Jason Bloom, Xaltation has since added Gabriel Anderson (Drums) and Josh Jacobson (Bass) while residing in the University of Central Florida area. With the live act set, Xaltation’s future seems full of endless possibilities. The relaxed style, conscious lyrics and catchy rhythms leave listeners in awe as they enjoy a truly one of a kind sound that Xaltation has brought to this world.

Throughout 2009-10, Xaltation will be extremely busy recording new songs in the studio and playing local shows to maintain the momentum it has built. “We have our debut album titled “Open Up” set to be released as early as July. Right now were playing live and soaking in all the fun that comes with it. We have some pretty big shows planned in the near future,” says Bloom.
